Crime Severity Index by Police Service, Larger Alberta Communities

The overall Crime Severity Index in the latest year for the municipal police services and RCMP municipal detachments of 24 of Alberta's larger communities, highest first. Small places are left off this ranking because an index over a few hundred residents can swing widely from one year to the next. Police-reported crime weighted by seriousness and divided by population, indexed so that Canada in 2006 = 100 (Statistics Canada table 35-10-0190-01, annual, 1998 on). An index, not a count: it cannot be added across police services. The full table, every Alberta police service including rural RCMP detachments and First Nations services, is in the API.
