What it is

Every announced data centre in Alberta, in one place.

33 projects, from the two already running to the ones that only exist as a press release. Each one gets the same five questions: is the site secured, has the county approved it, has its power plant been approved, does it hold a grid allocation, has construction started. Open any row to see the evidence.

What it shows

They’ve asked the grid for 22 times what it can spare.

In October 2026 the grid operator’s list held 26.8 GW of data centre requests. The grid released 1,200 MW for new large users, and two projects got all of it. Projects that build their own gas plant skip that wait, but still need the Alberta Utilities Commission and the county, and both have now said no to someone.

How it was made

An agent checks it against the public record every month.

It reads AESO’s monthly connection list, the province’s project registry, county decisions and the regulator’s rulings. It’s free to read, no account needed.
